Dinner at my favorite sushi spot, Sushi Brothers, is one of life’s simplest but greatest pleasures, especially when it’s full of uncontrollable laughter from some of the funniest people I know. Since we couldn’t focus on ordering due to Corey’s beautifully awful and obnoxious singing, we ordered damn near one of everything on the menu and kept up our usual shenanigans.

Joey and I stopped by St. Joes to have a drink last night around 1. Actually, I didn’t drink at all. I had a tasty water with lemon while Joey had an enticing glass of red wine. I have recently been moved to stop drinking all forms of alcohol, at least for the year. This is going to give me abundant time to re-balance my mind and body, further develop my healthy eating habits, grow spiritually with proper influence and guidance, and make my dreams a reality!

celebratory: FAREWELL HAKAN!
I’ve only known Hakan for a short period but cool recognizes cool, and we hit it off the moment we met. I’m always excited to make friends from around the globe because there is so much to learn from one another. The differences between cultures is a fascinating and I’m looking to learn all that I can.
Next week, Hakan is moving back to Turkey after living in New Orléans for 3 1/2 years and I’ll surely miss him. That gives Tone and I an even bigger excuse to hop a flight to Istanbul sooner than later.

stimulus: KEITH HARING
The energy of Haring’s work along with his biography took over me in my early teens. It wasn’t until his death in 1990 that I heard about him. I was doing research about HIV and AIDS for a class assignment and naturally I wanted my presentation to be artist related. Coincidentally I found an article at the library about Haring and incorporated his work into my presentation.
I became semi-obsessed. I had buttons, stickers, and t-shirts with images of his work printed on them. RIP KEITH HARING.
