*Performance Artist, Imaginative Photographer, Creative Consultant, Art-Head Blogger, Wardrobe Stylist, Misfit Student, Smart-Ass, New-Age Hippie, Professional Dream Catcher, Chicago Native, Rebel with a Cause, Total Weirdo*
Born and raised on the west side of Chicago, LaMya Clinton has been on the art scene since an early age. As a youngster, LaMya’s heart was in performance art which led her to join a program at Steppenwolf Theater where she began to evolve her skills as an actress and writer. This is where she met and worked with Ron Bieganski, artistic director for Free Street Theater. LaMya was hired as a producer with Producing Arts for a New Generation (P.A.N.G.) at Free street Theater, organizing weekly shows spotlighting artists like Eric Bogosian. A twist in fate led her to New Orléans where she studied photography and theater, and received her bachelor of arts degree. After graduation, her interests transitioned to film. She returned to Chicago to accept a casting assistant position, under JP Casting, for The Dark Knight and The Express. Shortly after the films wrapped, she relocated to Los Angeles.
Her quirky taste in fashion landed her a job with an Italian label under Max Mara in Beverly Hills as a wardrobe stylist, personal shopper, and wardrobe organizer to various magazines, television studios, pilot shows, celebrities, and any other fashion lovers. After-hours, LaMya would hit the L.A. event and party scene where she networked with all types of people from all types of scenes, and became responsible for social marketing and media for a number of people and companies.
LaMya is currently residing in New Orléans and working as a brand/creative consultant, photographer, wardrobe organizer, and performer. You can check her in the new Edible Arrangements commercial airing nationwide and lookout for the new World War II Museum commercial airing soon.
LaMya now hosts the monthly art event, FRIDAY NIGHT MASH, a monthly gathering for artists and art-lovers, at Inner Recess Studios. Their mission is to unite and promote local and international artists in all mediums through a collaborative potluck rooted in tradition of socializing and networking.
