Today was another successful day of marathon training. Even with the absence of the rest of our team, Grace and I kept our focus and pushed ourselves to an even greater distance. We have made progress in such a short period and I look forward to witnessing how many barriers we cross and limits we push. Everyday is another opportunity for growth in a vigorous way. The mind, body, and spirit connection is strong, and we will continue to FLOURISH.

HAPPY MARDI GRAS! (1st. edition)

Alton and I made it to the Endymion parade after all. We left my house at what may have been the last-minute to head downtown. We found a parking space one block off the parade route, just in time to watch the entire parade. My intention was to snap only a few shots of the parade but somehow I ended up with over 200 frames. I stopped shooting for a while due to a fat strand of beads wacking me in the face and hand. I promise you, if you’ve never been to a Mardi Gras parade, you need to wear at least 3 layers of clothes, kicks you don’t care about, and combat gear. You haven’t truly done Mardi Gras until you’ve experienced the impact of beads or some strangers elbow right in the face!

*So…I really don’t know what I was doing when Alton took this picture, and I’m still trying to figure out how my cup ended up in my beads…

*By the end of the night, I had no voice, my arms were sore, and I was about ten pounds heavier. Oh well, it’s Mardi Gras!

After lounging at my house, eating dinner, and playing on the world-wide web, Alton & I jumped up and headed downtown to catch Endymion after the rain stopped. The night couldn’t have been more perfect. We found a parking space one block off the parade route and made it just in time to catch the entire parade toward the end of the route. We were out there like two kids at their first parade!

It’s suppose to be one of the biggest parade days of Mardi Gras and Alton and I are trapped at my house. We are being kept from our usual carnival season shenanigans due to a rainstorm. I’m not the type of girl who can do rain and cold weather. Time to bust out the MacBooks. Online shopping anyone?

FEELING KIND OF JUNE

I’m a simple girl who gets excited over the little things, and the little thing of the week is a new bottle of Chanel polish from the Spring 2012 collection. I change the color on my nails every 4 to 5 days. Yes, I’m a polish hoarder so it makes it easy. Today I tried JUNE and I fell in lust with this lovely shade by Chanel. It added some warmth to a cool, rainy day in New Orléans. Most of the time, I do not care about season-appropriate polish; I wear what I want when I want. (If I were in my hometown of Chicago, it would be a different story.) Anyhow, I plan to fully bang this color out come spring. I think I’ll grab a bottle of MAY to add to the collection.
